Honorary Secretary BCCI, Jay Shah had said few days ago that IPL will have 2 and a half moth window from next ICC FTP cycle so that best players from around the world can participate in the IPL. This statement has not gone to well with the PCB. PCB is planning to challenge it officially in the next ICC meeting.
In a media conference, PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja said, “There has been no announcement or decision as yet on the IPL window being increased. I will give my views on this issue at the ICC conference. My point is clear, if there is any development in world cricket that means we are being short-changed, we will challenge it in a very forceful manner and put our point across strongly in the ICC.”
Ramiz Raja also talked about the possibility of series between India and Pakistan. He revealed that he has talked to BCCI chief Sourav Ganguly quite a few times but due to political issues nothing has been confirmed as of now. Ramiz said, “I have spoken to Ganguly on the sidelines on this and I told him that presently there are three former cricketers heading their cricket boards and if they can’t make a difference who will?”
He also talked about the invitation he received from Sourav Ganguly to to attend IPL. He said, “Twice Ganguly has invited me to attend the IPL finals last year and this year, and cricketing wise it made sense to go, but then, because of the situation, we had to look at the fallout of accepting the invitations.”
