Maharashtra captain and team India opener Ruturaj Gaikwad inked his name in to the record book today. During the Vijay Hazare Trophy quarter-final in Ahmedabad, he smashed 7 sixes in an over. In the penultimate over bowled by left-arm spinner Shiva Singh of Uttar Pradesh, Gaikwad smashed 6, 6,6 6, 6nb, 6, 6. Maharashtra captain Ruturaj Gaikwad became the first batter in the history of white-ball cricket to hit 7 consecutive sixes in an over.

Batting first Maharashtra put on a total of 330/5 in 50 overs, thanks to swashbuckling batting from Captain Gaikwad. Gaikwad smoked 220* from 159 balls with 10 boundaries and 16 massive sixes. UP could only score 272/10 in 47.4 overs and lost the match by 58 runs. Aryan Juyal batted brilliantly for his 159 off 143 deliveries but no once else could stay on the pitch for a long time with him.
